Under Construction

These are random quotes I pick up, drama, movie,  real life.   I could fill a page with Buffy and Angel quotes, but I will refrain and add select ones as I am so inclined.

“You’ve killed, haven’t you? Or are you one of those Mary Sue vampires?” – Kol to Elena, The Vampire Diaries

“The ancients said that people rely on the strength of their shoes . But today we think of every way to torture our feet. People don’t understand that Cinderella’s glass slippers were made so that she couldn’t run away,  so that the Prince doesn’t have to chase her.  I like a woman who can run. Because only then is life fun .”-An De Feng, Big Red Riding Hood

“The thing women have got to learn is that nobody gives you power. You just take it.”

n  Roseanne Barr

“Mom, romance is dead. It was acquired in a hostile takeover by Hallmark and Disney, homogenized, and sold off piece by piece.”

— Lisa Simpson

“See what happens when you let men into the cabinet?”

n  Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, after Health and Human Services Secretary Donna Shalala pointed out that the two women were discussing Kosovo policy while, nearby, Housing and Urban Development Secretary Andrew Cuomo was complimenting Agriculture Secretary Dan Glickman on his shoes.

Buffy: Love makes you do the wacky.

Spike: You’re not friends. You’ll never be friends. You’ll be in love ’til it kills you both. You’ll fight, and you’ll shag, and you’ll hate each other ’til it makes you quiver, but you’ll never be friends. Real love isn’t brains, children. It’s blood. It’s blood screaming inside you to work its will. I may be love’s bitch, but at least I’m man enough to admit it.

The lovely thing about being forty is that you can appreciate twenty-five- year-old men more.

Colleen McCullough

“Passion. It lies in all of us. Sleeping, waiting. And though unwanted, unbidden, it will stir, open its jaws and howl. It speaks to us, guides us. Passion rules us all. And we obey. What other choice do we have? It hurts sometimes more than we can bare. If we could live without passion, maybe we’d know some kind of peace. But we would be hollow. Empty rooms, shuttered and dank. Without passion we’d be truly dead.” -Angelus

Oz: “Well, a gathering is brie, mellow song stylings. Shindig: dip, less mellow song stylings, perhaps a large amount of malt beverage. And hootenanny: well, it’s chock full of hoot, just a little bit of nanny.”

“That’s everything. No weapons, no friends, no hope. Take all that away and what’s left?” -Angelus
“Me.” -Buffy, “Becoming II.”

Giles: “You mean life?”

Buffy: “Yeah. Does it get easy?”

Giles: “What do you want me to say?”

Buffy: “Lie to me.”

Giles: “Yes, it’s terribly simple. The good guys are always stalwart and true. The bad guys are easily distinguished by the pointy horns or black hats. And, uh, we always defeat them and save the day. No one ever dies, and everybody lives happily ever after.”

Buffy: “Liar.”

“Oh, that’s very humorous. Make fun of the ex-demon. I can just hear you in private: ‘I dislike that Anya. She’s newly human and strangely literal.’ ”

-Here’s to good women. May we know them.  May we be them. May we raise them.

-You’re never too old to do goofy stuff. (Ward Cleaver, Leave it to Beaver)
