Hi, I’m told I have a plethora of random thoughts, and I was polishing off random open bottles of Soju that were left over just hanging out in my frig when thinking about creating this blog.  Hence the title, which is also my ID for this blog.

Disclaimer: First of all, I am not Korean.  I do not speak Korean.   What I  understand of Korean culture barely scratches the surface.   Let me repeat that, I am not Korean, I do not speak fluent Korean,  I have never lived in Korea, I am not an expert on the culture and what I know of the culture barely scratches the surface. In other words do not ask me deep questions about Korean culture. If you want to study Korean culture please do your own homework as this is not an authoritative site on Korean culture. You can start with some of the links on my links page.    Also, Google is a wonderful and useful tool, employ it. I hate to say it this way, but I am borrowing from one of my hobby groups to say, “Do your own homework, just like everyone else, and don’t be an askhole.”  Thanks for not assuming I’m Korean and know what it’s like to be Korean or of Korean descent, because I don’t, and that’s just rude to the Korean people and people of Korean descent.

I have eclectic taste, opinion on a lot of things, some educated opinion and some just personal preference,  low tolerance for bullies and bullshit, and spend way too much time on critically analyzing everything in life.  A friend of mine says I have a natural talent for critical theory analysis and it frightens her that I have never taken a crit theory class and that I am not an English major.  I was THIS close to pursuing an English major but reading fiction is a pleasure for me.  If I have to do it for a living it would not be an outlet.  I can do History and still love reading and writing about it. What am I going to do with a History degree and masters you ask?  I plan to be a prof of course.  I have no high ambitions to publish world changing books, but I would just like to teach American History and culture.  Yes, I want my PhD too, but you know, not there yet.

I have managed to realize one of my dreams in life;  to write a paper on Buffy The Vampire Slayer for a  university course.   Yes, nerd like I know, but I’m totally okay with that.

Did I mention I am a fan of Korean Drama and dabble with K Pop?  Maybe it was a clue because I had to add that disclaimer because I’ve had a few visitors that ask questions or even “call me out”  on my opinion on K drama.  See the disclaimer again.  Also, just for the record, a PERSONAL OPINION blog is not a credible source for Korean history or culture,  unless of course its run by a Korean historian or a Korean discussing their culture.  Just saying.

I’m a white girl from the Southern United States, so yeah, Korean entertainment and a GRITS does not compute for many people.   I’m still trying to figure out why I didn’t know about Rain (Bi) way earlier in my life.  I’ve discovered a lot of stuff to analyze in my K Drama addiction, but let’s be real, I initially came for the hotness of the Korean actors and idols, and I was drawn into this funny,  tragic, passionate, fictional world.  But about the male pretty, I sometimes can be surprisingly shallow and totally open to equal opportunity sexploitation of male beauty.   How does that work with the feminist and humanitarian in me?  It clashes. Big time.   One voice tells me objectifying people is wrong, and another tells me people have a right to use their bodies the way they want.
One of my problems is that I know a ton of useless information but if I have to do math, forget about it.  Is that truly a problem?  Only if I have to take a course that requires math, right?  I am extremely curious about culture and why people do the things they do, but I am not an expert on anything.  Too many thoughts, too much time walking the middle of the road so I can see what is happening on both sides.

So, basically what you will see in my posts are random thoughts I have about various things that catch my attention.  And fangurl leakage on occasion.  Okay, sometimes, a lot.
